Dr. Yun has received funding from the Eli Lilly and Company – Lilly Research Award Program (LRAP) for the project “ Enhancing Diffusion Models for De Novo Antibody Generation with Multi-Objectives Through Reinforcement Learning.” This project introduces a reinforcement learning (RL)-guided diffusion framework for de novo antibody design, accelerating the design of functional, therapeutically optimized candidates.

Dr. Yun has received funding from the North Carolina Coastal Studies Institute – North Carolina Renewable Ocean Energy Program (NCROEP) for the project “Optimizing Marine Energy Utilization in Microgrids for Micro and Light-Duty Electric Mobility Charging.” This project will develop optimization strategies to enhance the integration of marine renewable energy into microgrids, supporting sustainable electric mobility in coastal communities.

At the 2025 Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers (IISE) Annual Conference in Atlanta, Dr. Yun presented research on transferable deep reinforcement learning for manufacturing systems, a collaborative project with Dr. Esma Birisci. The work received the Manufacturing & Design (M&D) Best Track Paper Award.

We are excited to welcome Amanda Renjifo to the IDEA Lab at UNC Charlotte. Amanda is pursuing a Master’s in Engineering Management with a concentration in Energy Analytics at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. She brings prior experience in federal energy management, private sector energy project development, and currently works for Duke Energy, developing energy resilience and efficiency projects for federal agencies. With a background in electrical engineering, Amanda is dedicated to creating technical, data driven energy solutions that enhance system reliability and strengthen resilience across critical infrastructure.
